IV Therapies

Intravenous Micronutrient Therapy

There are many approaches to naturally healing the body, but none can rapidly infuse your body with immense amounts of nutrients like Intravenous (IV) Micronutrient Therapy.  By doing so, healing time is reduced, recovery is rapidly accelerated, energy production is enhanced and performance is ultimately improved.

IV administration of nutrients can achieve blood concentration not obtainable with oral, or even intramuscular (IM) administration.  Various nutrients have been shown to exert pharmacological effects, which are in many cases dependent on the concentration of the nutrient.  For example, an antiviral effect of vitamin C has been demonstrated at a level achievable with IV but not oral therapy.

In addition to having direct pharmacological effects, IV nutrients therapy may be more effective than oral or IM treatment for correcting intracellular (inside the cell) nutrient deficits.  Some nutrients are present at much higher concentration in the cells than in the blood.  For example, the average magnesium concentration in heart cells is 10 times higher than the extracellular (outside the cell) concentration. The following is a summary of how IV therapy benefits athletes:

1.     Rapidly replace crucial nutrients

2.     Bypass intestinal absorption and processing by the liver

3.     Saturate the tissues with nutrients

Dr. Badesha uses various IV vitamin-and-mineral formulas for the treatment of a wide range of clinical conditions.  He will customize an IV protocol based on the needs of the patient. He has found IV’s to be beneficial for improving recovery, immune status, muscle tension, fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome) and mood.  They are also effective against acute asthma attacks, migraines, fibromyalgia, acute muscle spasm, insomnia, depression, post-operative repair from surgical procedures, upper respiratory tract infections, chronic sinusitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, cardiovascular disease, and other disorders.

Is it legal?

YES!!  The word “intravenous” congers up ideas of illegal or inappropriate medical interventions along the lines of steroids and gene doping or some other ominous behaviour.  This is not the nature of the IV therapies provided to athletes by Dr. Badesha.  None of these therapies are illegal, unethical or inappropriate and none will jeopardize an athlete or his team.

What’s in the IV’s?

All of our IV solutions consist of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and homeopathics in specific concentrations and ratios. Our IV’s are obtained from reputable, certified compounding pharmacies in BC and abroad.  Some constituents include magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, ATP, glutathione, selenium and vitamin C.

Is it safe?

IV therapies and IM injections are safe, effective, and minimally invasive therapies that are well tolerated by most people. It carries a low risk of serious adverse side effects. If the protocol is administered quickly there may be a sensation of warmth and flushing. Some patients may also have the taste of vitamins in their mouth shortly after they are given the infusion. The urine may also have a strong odor or color shortly after completion.
